Fanny Utiger, soprano

Fanny Utiger is a Swiss soprano. Her voice leads her towards the great romantic heroines such as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Violetta (La Traviata) and Liu (Turandot), and Mozart heroines (Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, Contessa Almaviva, Elettra, Konstanze). Particularly fond of Lied, she works on programmes based on Alma Mahler, Schubert and R. Strauss. She will soon be making her German debut in the title role of Piccinni's Dido at the Rheinsberg Festival. She is a member of the Académie Jaroussky in Paris for the 24-25 season.

Born in Lausanne (CH), Fanny Utiger developed a passion for the performing arts from an early age, devoting her childhood to classical and contemporary dance, which she practised assiduously until the age of 18. Initially a specialist in literary history, she began singing shortly after obtaining her Master's degree, opting to go professional a year later and joining the class of Jeanne-Michèle Charbonnet and Todd Camburn at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne in September 2020.

In master classes, she has benefited from the advice of Raul Gimenez, Leontina Vaduva, Marina Viotti, Rosalind Plowright, Michael Fabiano, Michelle Bradley and Brigitte Balleys.

In 2022, she sang the Psalm "Hör mein Bitten" at the Eglise Saint-François in Lausanne and the solo soprano in Beethoven's Choral Fantasy at the Grange au Lac in Evian (F). On stage she sings the role of Mimi in Bohémien.nes.x (La Bohème, Puccini) produced by the NOF (Opéra de Fribourg), and that of the Countess Almaviva conducted by Christof Loy at the Castel Artès Festival in Mirepoix (F). Fanny also sings the solo soprano in Bach's Christmas Oratorio for the Théâtre le Bateau-Lune (Lausanne) in 2023.

She will be heard as Diane à la Houppe in Honneger's Les Aventures du Roi Pausole at the Opéra de Fribourg in February 2024 and at the Opéra de Lausanne in April. Fanny will be Dido in Piccinni’s Dido in July 2024 at the Kammeroper Schloß Rheinsberg Festival. Later this summer, she will sing the role of the Second Woman in Purcell's Dido & Aeneas for Ouverture Opéra in Sion.

In competitions, she won third prize at the Lavaux Classic 2023 Competition with pianist Ana-Maria Carabenciov, and two prizes at the International Wettbewerb Kammeroper Schloß Rheinsberg (D) 2024. She is also a scholarship holder of the Jeune scène lyrique de l'Arcal 2024.
